Tekmos Expands Network with Design Center Engineering Companies
Austin, Texas March 1, 2021 – Tekmos vice-president, Bob Abrams, is pleased to announce that Tekmos is expanding our network with design center engineering companies, who provide the module, board or product solutions for OEMs. He says, “Our value is in providing an ASIC solution and a multi-chip packaging solution, which can include chips with mixed technologies into a final device that is fully tested.”
Tekmos has recreated many legacy processors as well as ASICs both mixed signal and digital. Tekmos has also designed and made high temperature chips for oil services, defense, medical, industrial, consumer markets and are expanding into other areas including RAD Hard ASICs.
Bob invites, “If you work with ASIC companies and you have a need to build something unique or to combine multiple die into single package to save space, our program is designed to work as a partnership.”

Covid-19 Statement – April 2nd
Austin, Texas April 2, 2020 – Tekmos president.
Here at Tekmos we have taken proactive measures and action plans to address COVID-19 for our employees, customers and vendors around the world. We are seeing manufacturing delays from one wafer vendor, which affects a single custom ASIC. All other vendors are operating normally.
Tekmos is offering customers the ability to pull in certain orders to make sure that possible future supplier disruptions will not affect their deliveries. Please contacts sales for further information.
Tekmos is considered an Essential Business, and is exempt from the various state and city shut-down orders. We will follow all city policies related to being an Essential Business.
Tekmos shall:
- Continue operations and watch for signs of disturbance in our supply chain and/or future business flows caused by COVID-19.
- Allow employees to work from home, unless needed for specific operation tasks onsite.
- Create alternate work plans for employees choosing to work from home. This includes, but is not limited to, upgrading internet bandwidth to better accommodate telecommuting, installing TeamViewer, Open VPN, and GoToMeeting on computers for accessibility to normal Tekmos operations.
We will continue “business as usual” and will meet the needs of our customers while maintaining Center of Disease Control (CDC) and our state and federal government direction and measures.

Tekmos Announces New Replacement for 87C51 Microcontrollers
AUSTIN, Texas, January 4, 2018 -- Tekmos Inc., a fabless semiconductor and reliable source of ASIC devices for hundreds of companies interested in replacing legacy microprocessors, ASICs and FPGAs via conversions including high temperature chips for extreme environments, is pleased to announce the release of a new family of 87C51 microcontrollers. The TK87C51Rx2 family is a derivative of the 80C51 microcontroller architecture, with a rich set of RAM, ROM, Flash memory and a full set of peripherals. The TK87C51Rx2 family is offered in 5 versions. The TK87C51RA2 with 8K of Flash, the TK87C51RB2 with 16K of Flash, the TK87C51RC2 with 32K of Flash, the TK87C51RD2 with 64K of flash. Tekmos also provides the TK80C51RA2 with no program storage for low cost applications. The TK87C51Rx2 family is available in either the 40-pin PDIP, the 44-pin PLCC or the 44-pin LQFP package.
The TK87C51Rx2 has been designed to be a drop-in replacement for the Intel, Atmel, and NXP 80C51Rx2 devices, with identical code execution, pin compatibility, and equivalent timing. The program storage in the TK87C51Rx2 family is implemented with flash memory. This memory can be erased and reprogrammed as desired, using industry standard programmers. Lynn Reed, President of Tekmos, commented that these additional products will help the industry to extend the life of products based on these designs. Tekmos has for 20 years helped OEMs to extend product life cycles with our lines of FPGA conversions, ASICs, microprocessor and legacy flash replacements. Tekmos launches a New Release of the TK68HC711D3 and TK68HC11D0 Microcontrollers
AUSTIN, Texas, February 1, 2017 -- Tekmos, Inc., a fabless semiconductor and reliable source of ASIC devices for hundreds of companies interested in replacing legacy microprocessors, ASICs and FPGAs via conversions including high temperature chips for extreme environments, is pleased to announce the qualification and release of two of our microcontrollers, the TK68HC711D3 and TK68HC11D0. The micros were originally made at our provider Plessey Semiconductor. Plessey closed their 0.35u fab, and the designs were transferred to the X-Fab foundry located in Dresden, Germany. Originally each design had its own mask set. This reflected the fact that the parts were designed at separate times. When the designs were transferred to Dresden, the designs were merged onto a common substrate die. The new die was designed to support an optional Flash memory, which could be enabled through bond options.
There are no changes to the operation of either circuit, and each chip remains a drop-in replacement for the original NXP parts.

Tekmos launches UNIFY, a Mixed Signal ASIC program for IoT products to improve designs for manufacturing and protect them from copycats
AUSTIN, Texas, January 11, 2016 -- Tekmos, Inc., a leader specializing in supportable solutions in the development and manufacturing of mature microcontrollers, high temperature microprocessors up to 300ºC, is pleased to announce the UNIFY Program. UNIFY is Tekmos’ unique mixed signal ASIC approach to providing an engineering and device solution for companies developing an Internet of Things (IoT) product offering where the standalone processor and other standard components provide 90% of the solution, but not the 10% needed to finish the product.
Many companies have defined their product at the block diagram level and have the resources to design in processors and other devices. However, they lack the engineering resources at the chip level to provide an optimal integration of mixed signal and other interface functions quickly and for a reasonable entry price.
The UNIFY ASIC from Tekmos, includes higher level integration which may include mixed signal, power management functions, custom interface design, digital logic or special IP from FPGAs. This UNIFY solution can include stacked die with flash memory or other technologies to create a solution that uses much less board area and offers cost savings for programs. UNIFY is offered well below the NRE and revenue thresholds needed to satisfy larger ASIC companies.
The ability to combine mixed signal ASIC with other die in a stacked die solution is tailor made to the customer’s application. UNIFY provides higher integration, lower cost and proprietary security advantages to make it more difficult for the competition to copy customer product designs.
The Tekmos UNIFY solution provides these benefits without the customer having to hire chip designers. Tekmos will implement the customer’s requirements into the ASIC, which is then embedded with the other devices into a single package or module to greatly reduce board area and protect the customer’s design from copycats.

Tekmos Introduces the TK68HC811E2 Rated at 175ºC for Extreme Environments
AUSTIN, Texas, May 2, 2014 -- Tekmos, Inc., a leader in legacy device replacements to extend product life of microcontrollers, ASICs, Standard Products and FPGAs, has introduced the TK68HC811E2, with an operating temperature rating up to 175ºC. Tekmos president, Lynn Reed, says “this high temperature microprocessor is our first of a series of hot chips” and will be featured at the upcoming International Conference and Exhibition on High Temperature Electronics (HiTEC) May 13-15, 2014 May 13-15, 2014 in Albuquerque, NM where Tekmos is a sponsor.
The forum gives attendees opportunities for presenting leading high temperature electronics research results and application requirements. Mr. Reed will also present The Effects of Repeated Refresh Cycles on the Oxide Integrity of EEPROM Memories at High Temperature.
The TK68HC811E2 is used in the oil and gas industry and for some military applications. Mr.Reed commented that the TK68HC811E2 device is rated to more than 70 degrees higher than most microprocessors used in industry today. The TK68HC811E2 is available for sample and production requirements and is offered in a 48 pin ceramic package.

Tekmos introduces "Drop In Replacement" for Intel 80C51FA with TK80C51FA MCU
Austin, Texas - February 16, 2009 - Tekmos, Inc. announced today the introduction of its new TK80C51FA microcontroller designed as a replacement for ROMless 8051 series microcontrollers that have been obsoleted by other vendors.
Based around the Tekmos 8051 core, the TK80C51FA offers identical timing to the original parts. The TK80C51FA microcontroller combines 256 bytes of RAM with three timers, an enhanced serial channel, a PCA array, seven source / four level interrupt capability, and a hardware watchdog.
The TK80C51FA is designed as a pin-for-pin, code and timing compatible drop in replacement for the original 80C51FA microcontroller previously offered by Intel. It may also be used to replace members of the 80C31BH, 80C32, and 80C32X2 families currently or previously offered by Intel, Atmel, NXP, and Temic.
